Application of a method for the sustainable planning and management of ground source heat pump systems in an urban environment, considering the effects of reciprocal thermal interference

The “Most Easy, Efficient and Low Cost Geothermal Systems for Retrofitting Civil Historical Buildings” (GEO4CIVHIC) project aims to accelerate the deployment of shallow geothermal systems heating cooling purposes when retrofitting existing historical buildings. Analyzing implementation process borehole heat exchangers (BHEs), allows understanding how promote long-term sustainability energy systems. The thermal interference between BHE represents a problem, especially due increasing this technology its spread in densely built-up areas. main goal paper is propose conceptual model apply different case studies. methodology includes phases adopt an integrated approach preventing long term neighbouring exchangers, by providing management strategies technical suggestions design operation. method developed follows following steps: 1) literature review determine what are drivers systems, context GEO4CIVHIC study sites; 2) create limit at both operational phases; 3) real virtual studies countries with regulatory frameworks test strengths weaknesses. application specific provides evidence critical planning characteristics GSHP identification measures mitigate impacts be identified.
